Summary
The Restoration Ecologist Intern position is a non-paid, full time (40 hours/week) position. The job typically applies to college students seeking an exciting thing to do over the summer but post baccalaureate applications are accepted for a more intense one year term. College students should be in a degree program, provide a memorandum of understanding with their university, and obtain college credit for their intern work. Minimum GPA is 3.2. The intent of the program is to train the individual in the five step process of Meadowview Biological Research Station including discovery, propagation, research, reintroduction, and education. The candidate is required to be able to produce written reports, lift 50 pounds, and be familiar and proficient with scientific methods, techniques, and tools. Meadowview expects a well rounded individual who can work with the public and represent the organization in a professional manner. The position includes lodging at the Research Station and a food budget, not to exceed $250.00/month.
Specific Duties
Groom plant collection, weed, mix soil, fill pots, divide and repot plants asinstructed
Assist with construction of new plant beds
Maintain greenhouse facilities and collection
Maintain outside plant bed collection
Provide general oversight of Meadowview operations center
Provide brochures to general public and answer their questions
Assist in plant sales and orders
Assist in research projects, grant writing, newsletter production, and researchpublications
Attend conferences to assist presentation of research results

The Restoration Ecologist Intern is expected to behave in a professional and courteous manner to represent Meadowview Biological Research Station. Illegal activity, including theft or drug use, are cause for immediate termination. Major items to be observed are as follows:
Professional manner includes dress casual attire for professional conferences and suitable clothing for daily work. Daily work outfit may include t-shirt or button down shirt, jeans or acceptable slacks or shorts, and either work boots or rubber boots. Tattoos, piercings, unkempt appearance, or unprofessional or contrary slogans on clothing are strongly discouraged.
No smoking, pets, or parties on the research station premises.
Research Station will be kept clean (vacuumed and mopped) and in a presentable, business manner. This means that at start of business kitchen will be clean, the sink free of dishes, no personal effects will be in evidence on first floor work, and the bathroom will be clean. Floors of research station are to be kept free of dirt and debris for acceptable appearance to the general public.
